Eastern Shore’s Tinsel-Town Tour – Talbot County

Day One: Meet your guide in St. Michaels, the Heart & Soul of the Chesapeake Bay. Lunch awaits your arrival at the famous Crab Claw Restaurant where cameras, film and lights were frequently in action during the filming of “Silent Fall” starring Richard Dreyfus, Linda Hamilton, John Lithgow and Liv Tyler. You’ll enjoy fresh local seafood and produce and the spectacular sweeping views of St. Michaels’ harbor. Discover the lifestyles and peoples of the Bay during your tour of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, an 18-acre waterfront park with ten exhibit buildings, 1879 screw pile lighthouse and the Bay’s largest collection of traditional wooden boats. Shop just like the stars filming in Talbot County – on Talbot Street and take pleasure in dinner prepared by one of our culinary stars - Chef Michael Rork at his waterfront Town Dock Restaurant.

Day Two: Start your day with a warm breakfast before heading off to Oxford, Md. Hop aboard the Oxford Bellevue Ferry and capture the sheer beauty of the landscapes and waterscapes on the Tred Avon River where Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker fell in love in the romantic comedy “Failure to Launch”. Tour Cutts & Case Shipyard where McConaughey came to grips with his broken heart, the Oxford Museum, and Custom House. Catch the watermen and waterfront activities at the Masthead at Pier Street Marina where Parker & McConaughey were captured on the big screen having lunch. Here, you can enjoy your meal indoors or outdoors. Climb aboard the Express Royale and head for Tilghman Island and the Knapps Narrows Bridge (as seen in Failure to Launch and Head of State). You’ll enjoy dinner at Harrison’s Chesapeake House, famous for their chicken and crab cakes.

Day Three: Climb aboard the bus and travel to the elegant Tidewater Inn for breakfast. The inn served as home base for both movies – “Failure to Launch” and “Wedding Crashers”. Ask about the autographed duck signed by actors such as Nicholas Cage during the filming of “Guarding Tess”, a Talbot County resident the late Robert Mitchum, and Elizabeth Taylor. Spend the next few hours shopping in the same boutiques and stores as the cast of “Wedding Crashers” and be sure to visit Troika Gallery, a favorite local gallery of Jane Seymour. Lunch at Mason’s –one of the most frequented dining venues for the cast of “Wedding Crashers”. Tour the Historical Society of Talbot County, Academy Art Museum, and Avalon Theatre where premieres like “First Kiss”, “Notebook”, and “Failure to Launch” were held. End your tour with afternoon tea at the famous “Inn at Perry Cabin” where the reception for “Wedding Crashers”. The movie starred Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, Christopher Walken, and Jayne Seymour.
